Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

2012 MX Pig Dinner – One of the best!

May 9, 2012 in MX FIJI

On April 15, the Mu Chi chapter held their 19th annual Frank B. Norris Pig Dinner!  With over 35 graduate brothers in attendance, as well as distinguished guests from other chapter, this year’s Piggy D was one for the ages.  A big “thank you” goes out to all the brothers who traveled far and wide to attend, as well to those who made this Pig Dinner their first ever as a graduate.  Some highlights of the dinner include:

  • A prolific Exile’s Toast by brother Robert Cavedo
  • Outstanding Newly Initiated Brother awarded to brother Jake Mooney
  • Brother of the Year awarded to brother Nick Stoner
  • Christopher W. Fuller Senior Recognition awarded to brother Ryan Mullins
  • Winner of both the Matthew N. Zolotor Scholarship and Cap and Gown Rising-Senior Passdown, brother Zachary Franklin
  • An outstanding overall performance by Ryan Mullins as Master of Ceremonies

The following morning, the first ever Phi Gam Pro Am golf tournament was held at Lakeview Golf Course. With 10 undergraduate and 5 graduate brothers participating, it was a huge success for a first-year event. Thank you to all the brothers who participated.

This year’s Pig Dinner weekend would not have been possible without the unyielding efforts of Corresponding Secretary Tyler Stout and Graduate Relations Chair Jake Mooney.  They both worked tirelessly to make 2012 the best year yet, and have certainly made a convincing case.  Mighty proud to have these two individuals in the chapter!

Next year will mark Mu Chi’s 20th!  Keep up the great work, MX!

Due to an outstanding 2011 year, Mu Chi has been recognized by the Fraternity & Sorority Life Office as a 5 Star Chapter!  This means the chapter has exceeded all standards and expectations that are part of the 4 Pillars of Excellence.  In addition to this incredible achievement, the FSL Excellence Awards recently took place this past weekend, and Mu Chi was proud to be recognized for Outstanding Philanthropy:  FIJI/ASA’s Miles for Medals!  For the second year in a row, Miles for Medals has been deemed the best philanthropic event on campus.  Other awards include Outstanding New Member in a Fraternity – brother Jake Ronza, and the Chapter’s “Best of the Best” awarded to brother Nelson Murphy.  Congratulations to this year’s recipients and all the brothers of Mu Chi!  Mighty Proud!

Grad relations feature coming soon

September 15, 2011 in MX FIJI, Updates

We’re looking to do big things with the new website, particularly with graduate relations.  Right now an entire Graduate Community is in the works that will allow grad brothers to update their contact information, stay in touch with the chapter, and foster networking opportunities with undergrads.  We are working diligently to get this set up as soon as possible, and upon completion, log-in information will be sent out in a graduate newsletter.  Tutorials will be made available to promote communal understanding and comfortability with the interface.  Keep checking the website for more updates!

Welcome!
